Fish Frys, Fun and Family on Janesville Make for a Great 'Jam'
Muskego, Janesville Road cooks in the heat in the first celebration of summer.
High Tide, Matty’s at Firestone, DJ’s, Country Squire and Bushy’s Pub were all offering fish fries Friday, down the Janesville Road corridor, along with Marx Pioneer Inn, just down Pioneer Drive. But chances were equally good to get a brat or a burger (baked potato, kettle corn, funnel cakes, etc.) instead anywhere on the strip of Janesville Road running from College Avenue on the east to Racine Avenue on the west.
Bob Hoorman, Owner of High Tide, said he was participating for the “advertising and to create awareness that we’ll be open during construction on Janesville Road.” He hopes to do a nostalgia campaign in the future to remember the good old days of Muskego Beach.
Jack Strasser, who admitted he pulled together their event in the final days leading up to 'Jammin,' presented an impressive showing of muscle cars, a DJ to provide the soundtrack, as well as raffles for those in attendance.

Keith Hammitt, Owner, Firestone, commented as the tents were going up around him, “I love this!” The store is “not your typical Firestone” says Keith. The showroom is filled with interesting displays and will be open all night; the grounds outside were soon filled with music, visitors, and car enthusiasts to ogle at the classic street rods and old cars that lined the lot.
Along with Muskego Chamber of Commerce, Hammitt felt that showcasing businsses who are involved in the community was the most important message tonight. By the looks of the turnout that walked along Muskego's streets, it was a message received loud and clear.
