Burlington next on the schedule

The Muskego Warriors football team plays its first road game of the season against Burlington in a non-conference matchup 7 p.m. Friday at Burlington Athletic Field (400 McCanna Parkway).

Here is a closer look at the 2011 Warriors:

Last week: The Warriors scored a resounding 55-19 victory over Port Washington in their season opener, while Burlington knocked off Racine Horlick, 21-13.

Rankings: Muskego was ranked No. 12 in Division 1 in the first WisSports.net state coaches poll and No. 6 in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel area poll.

Recent history: Former rivals in the Southeast Conference, Muskego and Burlington (now a member of the Southern Lakes Conference) haven’t faced each other since the 2008 season when the Demons prevailed, 35-28. Alex Roy rushed for 273 yards and three TDs on 34 carries in a losing effort for the Warriors.

FYI: Muskego had plenty of contributors in last week’s victory as it bolted out to a 48-0 halftime lead. … Brady Simkowski had a pair of 10-yard TD runs in a 28-point first quarter. Jordan Gruettner, Tommy Stark, Roland Dunlap, Eric Pachowitz, David Kucharski also scored rushing TDs. … Dunlap returned a kickoff 90 yards for a TD in the fourth quarter. … Pachowitz completed both of his passes for 60 yards. … Dunlap and Simkowski both rushed for a team-high 57 yards. … Josh Breider had an interception to lead the defense.
