Frugal Family: Deals with Heart

Now that the Super Bowl is behind you, it’s time to face the reality that you may not have been thinking about what to get your sweetie for Valentine’s Day, which is just around the corner.  We found the tried-and-true flowers and candy, but also a few other ideas at great prices to keep you thoughtful without going broke.

• Who says stuffed animals are for kids? We found a beyond-adorable "Bug 'em"  love bug at the at Janesville Road and Racine Avenue. The price is just $9.95, and you get a free box of candy to tuck into the bug's pouch. It also zips open to add other trinkets as you wish.
• Flowers are simply a must, but add a little longevity to the sentiment with potted floral blooms. Just down the walk from Hallmark, the floral department at Piggly Wiggly in the Muskego Centre Mall was a nice surprise in the quality and the price range of their Wisconsin grown flowers and plants. The containers and accessories are also cute and add to the romance. From just a few dollars to just under $20, it’s a memory that will last long after the cut flowers have to be tossed.
• The way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach, and Muskego’s Papa Murphy’s pizza is offering heart-shaped pizzas for only $7. Perfect for pepperoni lovers, it includes three different cheeses.
• You are my sunshine: Sun Rayz Tanning is also featuring specials, including 10 sessions of Level I tanning for only $35 and 10 sessions on any bed for $74.95. In addition, a purchase of any lotion or moisturizer nets you one free tanning session.  Give a little sunshine in the middle of winter!
• Last and certainly not least, score major points at Frenz Designing Hair and Nails in the Muskego Business Plaza, just south of Janesville Road on Racine Avenue. Gift cards are available for their services, and many of those are on special. Receive $20 off a Redken Color/Cut with Sue (414-545-7395) before March 10, 2011. You also can receive 15% off any product to preserve the color treatment you just received.
