Great Escape: Serenity and Relaxation of Hot Stone Massages Awaits

Sometimes, ladies’ night out is a blend of bright lights, trendy music and high-energy crowds. But other times, the girls deserve an evening of serenity, calm introspection and complete relaxation.

Terry White, owner of Massage Envy in Bluemound and Greenfield, said a hot stone massage is the perfect escape for women, especially during winter. Both locations are open week nights, so an evening appointment is a great way to unwind before the weekend.

“In this weather it’s wonderful,” she said. “A lot of times, women say they feel like they’ve melted after having one. A hot stone massage melts stress away and lets women completely go into their own space for an hour and a half, fully relaxed for 90 minutes.”

The experience entails gentle placement of water-heated river stones along various points of the body, which is also treated to therapeutic oils. Massage therapists then incorporate a customized massage, using the hot stones, to create a healing and relaxing experience. Among benefits are relief of tension, ease of muscle stiffness, and increased circulation and metabolism, according to Massage Envy’s website.

Meditative music, and the warm massage table, add to the ambience, White added.

“It’s like being in a warm cocoon,” she said.

Friends who’d like to schedule hot stone massages at the same time are able to do so, although each would be in a separate massage room. The couples’ massage room is not equipped for two hot stone services, White said.

Requests for hot stone massages can sometimes be accommodated same day, but 1-2 days advance notice is recommended. Aromatherapy is another option for a great escape, with special blends designed to focus on relaxation, anxiety or aches and pains.
