Hold the Phone: County Supervisor Clears the Air Over Missed Calls
Privacy settings on phone may have caused constituents to feel unwelcomed to call, and 23rd District Supervisor Dan Draeger says the lines are again open for business

The phone rang, and an automated voice told Waukesha County Supervisor Dan Draeger that there was a caller with an unknown number on the other end of the line.
"It asked me 'do you wish to accept the call?' and I did, only to get a very upset man questioning why I was hiding behind technology," Draeger explained.
Before he could find out why the man was calling, Draeger said the man hung up, apparently unhappy.

However, the question remained for Draeger of why his calls were being screened.
According to AT&T, Draeger had a privacy setting on his phone unbeknowst to him. Privacy Manager is a call screening service that stops unidentified calls before your phone rings. It works with caller ID to identify all incoming calls that do not show a phone number.
Calls which show as Anonymous, Unavailable, Out of Area or Private, are asked to identify themselves in order to complete the call, according to the phone service carrier.

Draeger said he removed the feature and hoped to get the word out that he hasn't been intentionally screening constituents' phone calls. Should you have an question or concern regarding county issues for Draeger, he can be reached at 262-679-4433, or by emailing ddraeger@waukeshacounty.gov.
