Little Muskego Lake Association Gets Set to Beautify Idle Isle
'True community project' to revitalize and beautify island park gets started Sunday, September 18

Members of the Little Muskego Lake Association (LMLA) have been working on a "Beautify " project with approval of the Muskego Parks and Recreation Department.
The nonprofit group is hoping to beautify the public park by first focusing on Idle Isle Launch with flower beds and updating Idle Isle launch signage, with additional projects to create a boardwalk area at the end of the launch turn road, and providing additional piers along the shore at Idle Isle. A volunteer planting day is scheduled for this Sunday, September 18 from 10am to 2pm at the park, and everyone is welcome.
"Idle Isle park & boat launch is public park where the majority of the folks who use Little Muskego Lake come and enjoy the lake," said Lisa Niles, LMLA member.

"We started to plan and coordinate a clean-up effort, and we quickly found that a lot of people were more than happy to help," she said, adding that the initiative is a "true community project...resulting in $0 cost to the city or LMLA."
"We are working closely with the DNR, DPW and the Park and Rec Department to ensure proper guidelines and requirements are followed," Niles said. "We have a great start of volunteers and donations for the project; however, we want to invite all community members to be a part of this exciting project. We are hoping to gather any additional donations to help assist in our project."

Niles said donors will receive recognition on plaques at the site as well as in the community.
Leading up to this Sunday's volunteer efforts, Niles said there's a lot that has been going on behind the scenes at the park, including a weed kill, shaping of planting beds, movement of signage, and getting all deliveries on site.
Niles acknowledged the donors and Volunteers to date: Little Muskego Lake Association, City of Muskego - DPW, Muskego Cub scouts Pack 19 to earn a service patch, Groundskeeper, Inc., Shady Acres Nursery, Stein’s Garden & Gifts, Durham Hill Nursery, Cousin’s Subs, Muskego Liquor Store, Alpine Lanes.
"It really shows that 1 person can make a difference and that we all have more in common than differences," she said.
A listing of supplies that volunteers may want to bring is forthcoming on the LMLA's website, but Niles said if anyone has questions in the meantime, to call her at 262-679-2344.
