On Dec. 8, Braunsdorf and the victim were inside a residence in the W16800 block of Gregory Drive, when she began to ask him if he had an affair while on a recent trip to Colorado. She continued to press him about the issue until they were about to go to bed, at which time Braunsdorf became “quiet and snapped.”

He ran into the living room and grabbed the family Christmas tree and began to ram it into the wall, then turned it upside down and began to ram it into the floor. The woman became concerned for her safety and grabbed her cell phone and tried to call someone, but Braunsdorf pulled it from her hands and threw it out the front door.

The victim was able to get away and flee to a relative’s home nearby.

Braunsdorf told police he drank three margaritas and three beers before the incident and the victim had called him “a queer” because he had been texting his friend in Colorado.

He will make his initial appearance in court Jan. 23.
