Man Charged For Drinking a Beer at a Bowling Alley

A 50-year-old Muskego man is facing charges after he was caught drinking a beer at a bowling alley and tried to hide it from police officers.

Michael J. Schultz was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of bail jumping and one count of obstructing an officer. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On May 5, Muskego police were called to after Schultz was spotted drinking a beer, which violates a condition of his bail. An officer arrived at the scene and saw Schultz with the beer, however, he then spotted the officer and put the beer on the ground and began to walk away.

The officer stopped Schultz and asked if that was his name, but he denied it. The officer then asked for an ID and Schultz tried to walk away, but he was put in an escort hold and taken outside.

Schultz finally admitted to his real name, but said he was drinking non-alcoholic beer. He initially refused to take a Breathalyzer test, but submitted one at the Muskego Police Department, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.04.

He’s free on $1,000 bond while awaiting trial.
