Man Charged for Possessing Items from 2009 Muskego Robbery, Home Invasion

Black River Falls man charged for receiving stolen property after 2009 high speed pursuit in Colorado.

A 26-year-old Black River Falls man is facing a felony charge for possessing items from an armed robbery and home invasion which took place in Muskego in 2009.

Anthony G. Keepers was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court with two counts of receiving stolen property valued between $5,000 and $10,000. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 29, 2009, an employee of Bushy’s Pub S67W14831 Janesville Road, was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot after closing the bar at the end of the night, which resulted in a gym bag full of clothes, cologne and toiletries he had in his vehicle getting stolen along with an MP3 player.

The next night, the complaint states officers were called to a home invasion on Cornell Drive where the homeowner was tied up and the robbers stole cash personal property and a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan.

On July 28, 2009, the van was identified being involved in a theft of food in Illinois and Missouri and the next day was involved in a high speed pursuit in Colorado. At the time of the pursuit, Keepers and two other individuals were in the vehicle.

The complaint alleges one of the occupants of the van told police investigators she had no idea the van was stolen until the pursuit took place and she had first met Keepers June 18 when he got out of prison and they were driving to Las Vegas.

Police investigators contacted Keepers’ girlfriend, who told them Keepers had taken a train to Milwaukee to visit a friend he made in prison, who also lives near Bushy’s and the neighborhood where the home invasion took place. When Keepers returned from the trip, the complaint states his girlfriend told investigators he had items that matched those from the robbery and was driving the van.

It was not clear from the criminal complaint why there was a two-year delay between the alleged crime and the charges filed against Keepers. Patchis continuing to investigate this.
