Suspect, 25, stole the items from his stepmother just days after he was released from a drug treatment program.

A 25-year-old Muskego man is facing charges after he allegedly stole rings from his stepmother to buy heroin just days after he got released from a drug treatment program.

Nicholas R. Brylow was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of theft valued at more than $5,000 and two counts of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 15 ½ years in prison and $30,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on July 27, Brylow began living with his stepmother after he was released from a drug treatment program and needed a place to stay. He hadn’t lived at the residence in seven years due to his addiction to heroin and for stealing things from the home.

But just one week later, the victim noticed four of her rings worth a combined value of $11,700 were missing.

A female acquaintance of Brylow told police he had given her jewelry to sell at various stores across the area. Brylow told police after the transactions took place they would immediately drive to the north side of Milwaukee and purchase heroin, get high, and drive back to Muskego.
