Mayor Johnson Bets on Packers

He takes on the Yorkville, Illinois, mayor in a Patch vs. Patch contest for charity.

Muskego Mayor John Johnson and Yorkville, Illinois, Mayor Valerie Burd have put it on the line for charity for the big game Sunday when the Packers meet the Bears at  Soldier Field for the NFC title.

If the Bears lose (and they will), Yorkville Patch will donate a $50 gift card to Johnson's choice of the Muskego Lion's Club. If the Packers lose (and they won't), Muskego Patch will donate a $50 giftcard to Senior Services on behalf of Burd to help programs like Meals-on-Wheels.

Additionally, Burd promises to appear in a video with Packers gear, admitting defeat when the Packers are officially on their way to the Super Bowl. Johnson said he will hold up a Bears shirt and congratulate Burd on her team's win should the unthinkable happen. In fact, Johnson upped the ante.

"Let's make it interesting. I'll hold up two shirts," he said, but holding the shirts was as far as he was willing to go.

Johnson predicts the final score of the game will be Packers, 21; Bears, 14. After winning two games on the road in hostile territory, he said Green Bay can handle the crowd and noise at Soldier Field.
