Meeting Preview: Muskego-Norway School Board Discusses Insurance Savings and Teacher Compensation

A consultant's report is final, outlining what the district could plan on saving with different health plans; MNSD could also join other districts to revamp evaluation system for compensation.

The regular meeting of the Muskego-Norway School District (MNSD) will convene Monday night at 7:30 at the .

Among the agenda items is a review of what an insurance consultant has found the district might save in costs of health care.  Five different health care providers were polled, and eight different dental carriers were also included in the study. A preliminary glance of the report shows that the district could save $1.09 to $1.47 million depending on the carriers they choose to adopt in 2012. Savings to health insurance was a key part of Muskego's revised budget that had to respond to state aid cuts earlier this year, so the final number will be important.

Dr. Kelly Thompson, Assistant Superintendent, is also recommending that MNSD join a group of other districts to implement a "research-based teacher evaluation instrument that is valid and reliable and informs the compensation systems in each district."
