The M had a lot on its plate to discuss Tuesday night, and final approvals on various spending were given to several projects, each touching on economic development.
A request for funding for an engineering design plan for Tess Corners Drive by Foth Infrastructure & Environment was approved. The Public Works committee had recommended the contract by Foth, which has also designed the Durham Drive project, for $92,700. Construction is expected to take place in 2012 and complete by fall of that year.
The Community Development Authority's request to fund a marketing study was also discussed at council, and while some aldermen were concerned that others had been done previously without action, the measure was approved. Vierbicher Associates will begin the study, expected to cost about $30,000, and planners are hoping results can be applied to enhance their efforts in pursuing business development throughout the city.
