Muskego Chamber of Commerce Director Resigns

Tina Weiss oversaw a sharp growth in the Muskego Chamber of Commerce and several new events and programs, including Jammin' on Janesville.

Seeing no unfinished business and the MuskegoΒ Chamber of Commerce in a healthy position, Tina Weiss felt it was a goodΒ time to hand off the reins as executive director.Β

After two-plus years,Β Weiss is stepping down effective Aug. 5 to spendΒ more time with her family while assessingΒ other career opportunities.Β

"It's just a good time for a change at the chamber," Weiss said.

It was a tough decision given her love for the job and the community, as well as the relationships she built up with Muskego businesses, she said.Β

Weiss was one ofΒ the driving forces behind Jammin' on Janesville. CreatedΒ at the onset of major Janesville Road construction, the eventΒ promotes Muskego and itsΒ business community and has proven to be a big success. The first of three events this year drew an estimated 7,500 people to Janesville Road.Β

During her tenure, chamber membership grew from 240 business to 350, Chamber President Dan Koehler said in aΒ letter to chamber members. He also creditedΒ Weiss withΒ developing new chamber events and programs, such as the Women's Business Connection and Young Professionals.Β

Her time as director can "only be described as outstanding," Koehler said.

"Tina's 'can do' attitude, professionalism and sincere dedication to the growth and influence of our Chamber of Commerce, and her drive to ensure that our members receive the maximum value for their money from membership, will be missed by everyone associated with the chamber," he said.

The chamber's board of directors has named former Muskego Patch EditorΒ Denise Konkol interim executive director while it searches for a permanent replacement.Β

Konkol has been active in the chamber for several years and is well-versed in the community.

"I'm truly honored to step in and help the chamber, as it allows me to continue to connect with and serve Muskego, which has been my hometown for 35 of the last 45 years," Konkol said.Β "It's a job that is new but certainly familiar in many ways and I hope to maintain the momentum and growth that Tina has established."
