Muskego Impact Pound Butler Bombers

The Muskego Impact scored 31 runs and pounded out 38 hits on their way to a doubleheader sweep of the Butler Bombers on Sunday at Frontier Field in Butler. The Impact improved their record to 3-1 in the eastern division of the Land O’ Lakes baseball league winning the first game 15-7 and the nightcap in five innings 16-1. In the first game, the Impact were down 4-2 entering the fourth inning when they erupted for 6 runs to take an 8-4 lead. It was then 9-6 going into the sixth inning, when they padded their lead with another six run frame making the score 15-6. The Impact earned every run with 21 hits in the game as the Bombers only committed one error. Leading the charge on offense was Andy Liss who had perfect game with 4 hits, followed by Brandon Kozinski and Jake Jewell with 3 hits each, and Nick Schmidlkofer, Kevin Schoenbach, Dave Archibald and Sean Staral picked up 2 hits each. Josh Beatka had triple, Kozinski had two doubles, and Schmidlkofer, Liss and Jewell each had a double. Dave Mihlshimmer picked up his second victory of the season working the first five innings giving up 6 runs on 10 hits, striking out 3 and walking 2. Peter Jewell worked the last two innings allowing one run on 2 hits, striking out one and walking one. In the second game, the Impact run ruled the Bombers 16-1 after 5 innings. After a slow start, they went on a hitting barrage in the third inning scoring 8 times and then capped it off scoring 4 runs each in the next two innings. Leading the Impact on their 17 hit attack were Kozinski and Schmidlkofer with 3 hits each, and Liss, Beatka and Chad Henneberry with 2 hits each. Cole Borek was the winning pitcher allowing one unearned run on only 4 hits, while striking out 6 with no walks. Coach Rick Henneberry was all smiles after the two victories commenting that he found another arm, and with pitching like that we won’t need to score 15 runs a game. The Impact return to action on Wednesday night at Malone Park in New Berlin and then return home to Horn Field this Sunday to play Racine in a doubleheader starting at noon. We hope to see all the youngsters bring their fathers out to the games on Father’s Day.
