A Muskego man who was arrested last week by Milwaukee County Sheriffs has now been charged in Milwaukee County court. The 33-year-old man is facing his seventh operating while intoxicated charge after he hit a wall while trying to get onto I-43 in Milwaukee, then passed out after being pulled over by a Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy.

At 4:09 p.m. Feb. 13, a sheriff’s deputy on patrol saw Bronstad’s SUV veer right and strike a concrete wall while driving on the onramp of southbound I-43 at West Becher Street in Milwaukee. After Bronstad hit the wall, his SUV continued to go up and to the left, then he continued to drive onto the expressway.
The deputy then followed Bronstad, who would deviate into the distress lane for long periods of time. The deputy pulled him over and when she arrived to his window, Bronstad had his eyes closed and appeared to be asleep.

The deputy then began to shake Bronstad until he woke up. A few minutes later, he began to shake profusely and had a blank stare on his face and lethargic movements.
Bronstad told deputies he had taken Trazadone and Clonidine before driving. He was unable to complete a field sobriety test and deputies found a syringe in his jacket pocket.
He was previously convicted of OWI two times in 1996, and once in 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2008. He’s currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on $10,000 bail.
