Muskego Man Facing Charges After Woman Overdoses On Heroin In His Car

Suspect, 23, stopped helping victim in order to remove drug paraphernalia from his car before police arrived.

A Muskego man is facing drug charges in after his girlfriend overdosed on heroin after the two of them shot up the drug and drove around in New Berlin.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 14, a man was driving in the 6000 block of South Racine Place in New Berlin when he spotted Ryan M. Kolvenbach, 23, on the side of the road kneeling above his girlfriend who was passed out. He originally told the man his girlfriend had just passed out and then admitted they had been using heroin.

Kolvenbach was initially hesitant to call police because he was on probation, but he eventually agreed to let the man assisting him use his cell phone and call police. While waiting for officers to arrive, the witness began doing chest compressions on the woman. However, Kolvenbach then left him and was removing items from the car until the man pled with him to return and help his dying girlfriend.

When police arrived Kolvenbach initially denied using heroin again, but then admitted to it, but denied removing items from his car and said they had tossed the used needle out the window while driving. However, investigators found the syringe 20 feet from where Kolvenbach’s car was parked.

The victim, 19, was eventually revived and told police they had driven to a pond and shot up heroin and then she overdosed, but didn’t remember anything else.

Kolvenbach is charged with one count of possession of narcotic drugs as party to a crime and could face up to three-and-a-half years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

The victim has since died of an apparent heroin overdose in Beloit. The complaint states Kolvenbach was again with her at the time of the fatal overdose.
