Muskego Police Issue Warning About Unstable Ice

The freezing and thawing weather cycles have affected the stability of the ice on area lakes.

Muskego police are urging residents to use caution when thinking of driving onto the ice of either of the city's three lakes.

On Feb. 16 police received a report of a vehicle that fell through the ice on Big Muskego Lake. Though the car was retrieved and no one was hurt, the potential danger is not something to be ignored.

"This should make anyone who spends time on the ice sit up and take notice," said Lieutenant David Constantineau. "I know it is still winter and we have a lot of cold weather remaining, but the thawing and freezing can make for a dangerous situation."
