Muskego Police Say to Have fun 'Jammin', but Be Aware of Pedestrians

Inaugural events downtown hope to help businesses, and while road remains open, foot traffic means extra vigilance for motorists.

The first of three summer outdoor events focusing on businesses along the Janesville Road corridor is this Friday, June 3.  While "Jammin' on Janesville" will keep festivities off of the roadway, Muskego police advise caution when driving downtown.

"Whether you do some Jammin’ on Janesville or not, you will need to keep in mind that, from 5-9pm on June 3, there is going to be a lot of foot traffic along Janesville Road., and if you are driving through the area, you will need to be aware and watch for pedestrians," Lt Dave Constantineau said.

"This is an event sponsored by the Muskego Chamber of Commerce and Muskego area businesses, designed to thank patrons for their continued support as the reconstruction of Janesville Rd. goes forward," he explained.

"If you want to enjoy the fun, I would encourage you to use the shuttles that will be running up and down the entire event, with stops at Pick N Save, the United States Post Office, Kohl’s, Piggly Wiggly, and Lincoln Point. That will keep both traffic congestion and foot traffic down, and keep the event fun and safe," he added.

Events are planned along the route that is slated for reconstruction from Racine Avenue to Moorland Road, but will also involve businesses as far east as College Avenue.  Constantineau added the the police department will also have an informational booth at the event, as Officer Ann Shaw will be on hand at Muskego Tire to talk to residents about emergency preparedness.

"Hopefully you will never need it, but with the weather the rest of the country has been having, you never know," said Constantineau.
