Muskego Schools Could Take a Share of US Cellular Million

Vote for your school effort could net as much as $150,000

With budget cuts required across the state on the Muskego-Norway School District cutting $2.4 million from their own, a promotion from  a wireless carrier might be what PTOs might want to get behind.

An annual competition sponsored by US Cellular will award 18 schools across the country with a share of $1 million. The school with the most votes will win $150,000, and the next 17 schools will receive $50,000 each. Winnings can be used any way the school sees fit to enhance students’ learning experience.

Public and private schools, kindergarten through high school, are eligible to win. Past champions have said that while the money was an educational boon for the schools, the campaign to win stimulated an equally rewarding and lasting sense of community.

If you're interested in garnering votes for one of Muskego's schools, you will need to stop in to a US Cellular store to obtain a code for the school.  All voting is then done online between Sept. 9 and Oct. 6 for anyone 18 years or older. Each online voting code gives people the opportunity to vote once daily until the campaign ends.

“We wanted to reward more schools with much-needed funds and the people who work so hard to support them,” said Laurie Poellinger, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Wisconsin. “Each year we’re amazed at the power of a few determined individuals who get the ball rolling in their community and the creativity of large and small schools across the country as they rally to win.”
