Gruettner a ‘favorite’

Muskego senior linebacker Jordan Gruettner was listed as one of eight preseason “favorites” for the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association’s Defensive Player of the Year award, according to a report by WisSports.net recently.

“Gruettner is one of the state's best all-around players, and one of the hardest hitting linebackers,” the report said. “He recorded 119 tackles on his way to First Team All-Conference recognition on defense. He was also an All-State punter, honorable mention All-Conference running back and won the Division I state wrestling title at 215 pounds.”

Props for Wallner

In the football player rankings by WisSports.net, Muskego’s Alex Wallner was listed as one of 25 “others to watch” after the top 15 senior offensive linemen in the state.

Wallner was a first-team All-Southeast Conference selection as a junior.

Hitmen win again

The Muskego Hitmen won their fourth game in a row with an 18-14 victory over the Waukesha County Junkyard Dogs on Saturday at  Kettle Moraine High School.

The Hitmen are in second place in the National Conference of the Ironman Football League with a 6-1 record. The first-place Madison Mustangs are 7-0.

The Hitmen play the Burlington Blue Devils 7 p.m. this Saturday at Westosha Central High School in Paddock Lake.

Sackerman in 16th

Muskego’s Neil Sackerson teamed up with Waukesha’s Josh Sparks to finish in a tie for 16th place in the annual WPLA Billy Sixty Best Ball Championship Sunday at Brown Deer Park Golf Course.
