Judging by the preseason prognostications, good things are expected of the Muskego football team this season.
In the WisSports.net preseason state poll, the Warriors were ranked No. 6 among Division-1 schools.
“A large and talented senior class has paid its dues, many starting for three years now,” wrote Travis Wilson of WisSports.net. “Multi-talented Jordan Gruettner leads a group with numerous college prospects.”

Muskego was picked to finish second in the rugged Southeast Conference behind Kenosha Bradford. Gruettner (RB/LB/P) along with Roland Dunlap (DE) and Alex Wallner (OL) were listed as three of the league’s 10 players to watch.
The Warriors tune up for their season opener with a scrimmage at Whitefish Bay 10 a.m. Saturday. The season opener is 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at home vs. Port Washington.

Borek honored
Muskego’s Cole Borek was an honorable mention selection at pitcher on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s All-Area baseball team (www.jsonline.com/sports/preps/127282103.html)
The recently graduated right-hander posted a 10-4 record and 1.86 ERA this summer as the Warriors went 24-9. Borek, a Cardinal Stritch recruit, walked 31 and struck out 65 in 83 innings.
Leaders in the clubhouse
Champions were crowned in the Muskego Lakes Club Championship.
Winners were Pete Bliske (senior gross), Greg Felzer (senior net) and Roger Bauer (super senior).
Best of Boxhorn
Paul Dombeck was the overall winner in the Club Championship at the Boxhorn Gun Club.
Leon Kuehn was the handicap winner, while Ali Knight was the youth champion.
Five in a row for Hitmen
The Muskego Hitmen semi-pro football team (www.muskegohitmen.com) closes out the regular season by hitting the road to take on the Fond du Lac Crusaders 7 p.m. Saturday at Art Humphrey Field.
The Hitmen are coming off a 40-29 victory over the Burlington Blue Devils last week – the team’s fifth win in a row – to improve to 7-1 in the Ironman Football League.
Tennis anyone?
The Muskego girls tennis team kicks off the fall sports season by hosting the Warrior Quad 8:30 a.m. Saturday on the school’s courts.
New Berlin Eisenhower, Waukesha North and Wilmot are also slated to take part.
