Muskego Suffers Cold Shooting Night in Loss to Waukesha North
The Warriors drop a non-conference game to the Northstars, 51-43.
Throughout a season, every team has their share of games that are best forgotten. Tuesday nights 51-43 loss to the Waukesha North Northstars was one of those nights for the Muskego Warriors.
The Warriors, who rely heavily on seniors Max Miskowiec and Danny Frawley, and junior David Mlachnick, were not given as much scoring production from the trio as they are used to. The Northstars defense held the three players to a combined 14 total points. All three players entered the night averaging over 13 points per game.
“They played really tough outside defense and made us force a lot of shots. We weren’t hitting our shots tonight and that is a credit to North’s defense,” said Muskego head coach Andy Capes.

Despite the rare cold shooting night from the Warriors, the team was able to keep the Northstars within striking distance for most of the game. In fact, it looked like Muskego was building momentum heading into halftime after a banked in three-pointer by senior guard Matt Fellenz cut their deficit to just one point. However, the Northstars came out of the locker room strong and extended their lead to 38-32 heading into the fourth quarter.
“They played at their tempo throughout the whole game and forced us into some tough shots,” said Capes. “When we were open, it was a night that we weren’t hitting shots.”

Muskego’s offensive slack was picked up by Fellenz who scored 14 points and by junior forward Jim Mock who scored 11 points. Their efforts were not enough to beat a Northstars team that was playing extremely well on both sides of the court.
Northstars head coach John Ricciardi said, ““I was really proud of the way we handled (Mlachnick, Miskowiec, and Frawley). They are a really nice group of players and we did a great job against them.”
Waukesha North (5-6) was led in scoring by junior guard Jake Ricciardi who poured in a game high 20 points. Senior point guard Evan Carney played a big roll for the Northstars, dishing out 11 assists. The loss drops Muskego to 5-6 on the season headed into a Southeast Conference battle at home against Racine Horlick on Fri., Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
