A 21-year-old Muskego woman is facing felony charges after she was caught with syringes full of liquid Oxycodone in her car, which she tried to pass off as insulin to police.

Marcia L. Blum was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of possession of a narcotic drug and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, she faces up to three years and seven months in prison, and $10,500 in fines.

On Feb. 13, Blum was pulled over by a New Berlin police officer after he saw her run a flashing red light at the intersection of 124th Street and West National Avenue. When he approached the car, Blum was crying excessively, saying she was having a bad night.

The officer saw a tourniquet sitting in plain view, which Blum said was left in the car by her diabetic friend. She then agreed to let police search her car and officers found numerous syringes full of clear liquid inside the glove compartment.

Blum said the syringes were her diabetic friend’s, then she demanded the search be stopped and wanted to speak with a lawyer. Police then contacted her friend, who told police she was not diabetic and hadn’t left anything in the car.

Blum then admitted to being an opiate addict and said she was having a craving and drove to West Allis to buy the syringes, which were full of Oxycodone. Police also found a marijuana pipe inside her purse.

She will make her initial appearance in court May 7.
