National Day of Prayer will Return to City Hall
Annual event celebrates freedom of worship.
Muskego will again participate in the National Day of Prayer on Thursday May 5; a ceremony will be held at City Hall.
Organizers from Praise Fellowship and the Muskego Apostolic Tabernacle, as well as participants from the VFW Lembezeder-Cook Post 8171, will present the program, now in its eighth year. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a flag ceremony and will continue with patriotic songs followed by prayer over specific areas, including government, church, military, family, education, media and business.
"This is a solemn occasion for all those who believe in the power of and need for prayer over our country," explained Gail Hart from Praise Fellowship. "Participants gather together in unity, standing in the gap and seeking the favor of God on behalf of the United States of America and its leaders.

Hart said that particularly in these stressful times for government leaders, prayer is what helps leaders the most.
“Many challenges face our Nation and there are no easy answers. We gather together to unite our hearts in prayer and seek the Lord’s guidance, protection and blessing for the United State of America, its leaders and its citizens.”

(Editor's note: The National Day of Prayer was originally created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The idea was to recognize the diversity of faiths and to allow people who sought to pray for the nation to do so in any way they felt appropriate.)
