New Driving School Features Men In Blue
Students may benefit from police expertise behind the wheel.
Muskego and surrounding communities now have a new option in Driver’s Education: The Blue Knight Driving School will be open for business with its first class starting on May 2, 2011.
Instructors John Walejewski and Todd Nelson are currently employed as police officers with the City of Muskego. “We drive thousands of miles a year,” said Walejewski, noting that they “see what causes accidents and how they can be prevented – especially with young drivers.”
Their training and expertise give them a leg up on other driving schools, Walejewski said. “Defensive driving is taught as part of Police Emergency Vehicle Training, and we see how bad weather, lack of sleep, distracted driving” and other adverse conditions take their toll on drivers.

All instructors at the driving school will be current or former police officers, Walejewski said, and the school is licensed by the State of Wisconsin. Walejewski taught at another local driving school for three years. He got the idea for opening the school after parents showed a preference for him as an instructor based on his police experience. Students apparently agreed as well.
“It was kind of calming having a cop next to you,” said JJ Bucci, 21, a former student of Walejewski. “I was able to parallel park on my second try – that’s the big thing everyone is always scared about doing.”

The school also has future plans to offer classes that emphasize safety for hunters, boaters, snowmobilers, and ATV enthusiasts.
Blue Knight Driving School will be located on Janesville Road west of Bay Lane Drive. The school is currently accepting student registrations at http://www.blueknightdrivingschool.com or by phone at 414-422-0911.
