At 5:40 a.m. Thursday, a Hales Corners police officer was on patrol in the 5800 block of South 108th Street, when he stopped at the intersection of Janesville Road. While stopped, the officer saw a Chevrolet Malibu in the left turn lane stopped 25 feet before the stop line and not moving despite there being a green light.

The officer noticed the driver seat was reclined and someone appeared laying back as if they were asleep. When the officer pulled behind the car, the driver immediately popped up and made a left turn onto 108th Street and continued to deviate from his lane until he was pulled over near West Grange Avenue.

Ebbott was the only person in the car and the officer saw a syringe sitting on his lap and two metal cookers used for preparing heroin inside the car. Ebbott said he’s a heroin user who had used the drug within the past 24 hours and was on his way to work, where he intended to shoot up some more heroin.

The officer searched the car and found a bindle of heroin inside. Ebbott said he spends $300 to $400 per day on heroin, but said the drugs in the car were not his and he had no idea where they came from.

Ebbott is currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on a $750 signature bond and has been ordered turned over to the JUSTICE 2000 program for supervision while awaiting trial.
