Muskego Drivers, Pay Attention to the Signs
Police note new traffic signs have been posted around the area to reduce risk for accidents.
Motorists may (or may not) have noticed new traffic signs around Muskego that police say have been posted to address accident reduction.
As of Monday, April 25, the speed limit on Janesville Road from the western city limits to Ancient Oaks Drive/Mercury Drive is now 45 mph. This replaces the 55 mph zone that had been in most of that stretch of highway.
A No U-Turn sign has also been posted for eastbound traffic on Janesville Road, between Overlook Bay Road and Racine Avenue near Kwik Trip and Walgreen’s. Drivers will have to turn north on Racine Avenue and drive around to the front of the Muskego Towne Centre mall to enter. Previously the practice for motorists wishing to enter the rear of the mall was to take a U-Turn at the median, however police advised those U-turns that had been happening were already illegal.

Lt. David Constantineau explained, "with the new sign, it makes it very clear to everyone. The goal is not to be able to write tickets, but to educate the driving public so they no longer make the U-Turns. While it may make their trip a little less quick, it will make it safer for everyone by eliminating the U-Turns that had been creating a traffic hazard close to a major intersection.
