Police Advise Caution on the 4th of July
Don't have a permit to set off fireworks? You missed this year's deadline.

The Muskego Police Department is calling on residents to celebrate Independence Day legally and safely.
Permits are required to set off fireworks, and the deadline for this year (the third Friday in June) has passed, according to a police press release. In other words, if you have not applied for a permit, you will not be able to do so until next year.
If you did remember to get your permit in time, Lt. David Constantineau said residents need to remember that, while they can still discharge fireworks from July 1-7, the hours have been reduced to 11:00am to 10:00pm.

"Some things that have not changed includes the requirement that the wind velocity not be more than 15 miles per hour as recorded by the U.S. Weather Bureau in Milwaukee, and that the wind direction at the time of use is away from buildings or other combustible materials and structures so the fireworks are not carried onto any adjoining buildings so as to not cause annoyance or danger to other persons or property," he explained. "And the most important one is that sufficient firefighting equipment and people be available at the scene to control any fire which may be caused by the fireworks use."
The ordinance can be found on the home page of the police department’s website.
