Police Department: We're Stuffed, Thank You

Community response for donations has been overwhelming and police are asking donors to hold onto their stuffed animals.

Lt. David Constantineau recognized that "Muskego residents have proven themselves, time and again, to be generous and giving when they see a person in need," however they are finding themselves to be short of space to accommodate any more donations, especially of stuffed animals, at MPD.

The donations are used for children in crisis, including children who are victims of crime, children of victims, and children of people who find themselves on the wrong side of the law.  The gifts often make a stressful situation more comforting.

Constantineau said they are asking people to cease donating gently used toys and stuffed animals, "mostly because we do not know the atmosphere that the toy has been exposed to, and the chance of a child being allergic to something on the toy is a chance we can’t take.  Also, we have received literally boxes upon boxes of new stuffed animals, so much so that we will not need to restock for some time."
