Roads Recap: Janesville Road Stop Lights to Be Up, Along with Speed Limit

As soon as crews are done installing new stop lights at Bay Lane Drive and Martin Road, 2012 work will complete, and speeds can increase.

Show of hands: does anyone go 25 mph on Janesville in the construction zone, really?

Well, in a few weeks you won't have to worry about getting a ticket for ignoring the lower limit, as road crews will be installing stop lights, and then leaving for the season, taking the temporary 25 mph limit signs with them.

Ed Hinrichs, project manager with Waukesha County, confirmed that the lights are expected to be installed in about two weeks. Once they are in place, he said the limit can again be raised to 35 mph as it had been before the shovels first dug into the road.

"We've gotten a few phone calls from people who were originally against the bike trail on that stretch, and have been very complimentary, saying that they really like how it looks," Simpson said.

The road project had hit a snag late in the process by homeowners who were opposed to the construction of a recreational trail, citing concerns over the loss of trees, and safety and security of pedestrians and homeowners.
