School Board Hammers Out Cost-Saving Measures for 2011-12 Budget
Board elects executive positions, gets down to business in providing value to taxpayers while addressing student needs, saving staff positions.
Monday’s School Board meeting featured regular business of electing members for officer positions as well as tackling the budget in the nearly four hours it lasted. Among the highlights:

The dates of the upcoming forums that the School Board will be holding in order to seek public input for a were again announced:
Wednesday, May 18, 7:00pm, Gym of Lakeview Elementary
Tuesday, May 24, 7:00pm, Room 243 (Old Cafeteria) of Muskego High School

But perhaps the most contentious portion of the meeting centered on Resolution 15-A: 2011-12 Budget Balancing and Repositioning Recommendations.
The resolution passed unanimously with two amendments by a vote of 6-0, with Board member Lisa Warwick not in attendance.
The amendments approved last night add language to the resolution that increases employee contributions to health premiums from 10% to 12.6% effective with the first pay period of 2012; and not to exceed a dollar amount of $215,418 for 3.5 full-time equivalency (FTE) between new librarians and tech integrators.
The resolution also cuts the number of available support personnel, such as psychologists, counselors, and social workers.
