Community Corner

Senior Sagas, chapter five, final

We were in assisted living for two years, going back and forth to our condo in Bay Breeze.  I was free to run errands and have Guy watched.
But, we needed continuing care, so we began to look elsewhere.
Tudor Oaks had an open house in 2009, so we went and were very impressed.  They were beginning a major construction project to update apartments and add wings.  We signed on.
They offered care from independent living, memory care, assisted and nursing care.  There was a rehab center in the building, too.
We picked out an apartment to be built and were on top of the design.  It was a lot of fun, and took over a year.
A pool, hot tub, fitness center, library, bistro, and greenhouse were developed.  100 acres of natural beauty and privacy from the highways were great amenities.
The food is delicious, and we didn't have to be assigned to the same table with the same people every meal.  The residents and staff are extraordinary with service and friendliness.
Programs were developed like the book club crafts, mens' and ladies' coffee hour weekly entertainment programs, fitness classes at all levels, card games of all kinds, golf cart tours and social hours held every month,
We sold our condo at Bay Breeze last fall, and have been at Tudor Oaks for over four years.  We have met and made many friends who care about us.  We are no longer alone, and if something should happen, help is a pull chord away.
So, in summation, after twelve years of searching and improving, here we are.  It has been a struggle, but we have gotten thru it, and I have been telling this story in chapters so that anyone else going thru challenges can be helped by reading my sagas or contacting me at Guywizard@aol.com
