US Marshals Arrest Fugitive in Muskego Sexual Assault Case

After three-week investigation, 19-year-old was arrested in Illinois.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Samuel J. French, a 19-year-old man who was charged with second-degree sexual assault, strangulation and suffocation stemming from an incident in Muskego in June.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, following a three-week long investigation in the southern Illinois area, on Monday, marshals out of Benton, IL arrested French, who had been eluding law enforcement since July.

According to the criminal complaint filed June 24 in , French was on probation for disorderly conduct, theft and possession of THC when he had called his ex-fiancé and asked her for a ride to see his parole officer. Along the way, he forced her to drive to Engel Conservation Area in Muskego, where he strangled her until she became unconscious. When she awoke, she reported that he was in the act of assaulting her.

More information about the investigation and arrest are not yet available from the U.S. Marshals Service; however, in August, authorities filed a search warrant in Waukesha County Circuit Court seeking the IP addresses for two Facebook accounts that they believed were operated by French under the names Brotha Jacob and Sam French.
