Viewfinder: Muskego's State Champions
They faced opponents they'd wrestled before and came out on top.
Roland Dunlap and Jordan Gruettner pulled out lopsided wins in both of their weight classes - 189 and 215, respectively - to win state wrestling titles.
Dunlap faced Shane Hughes from Arrowhead in his final match and won by decision, 10-2. This wasn't the first time they'd met; in their previous three meetings Dunlap took two.
"Roland had a game plan, and he executed it perfectly," Fortmann said.

Greuttner also had faced his opponent, Steve Sizer from West Bend, earlier in the season. He won that match 17-4 and took the title with a 13-4 win.
"Jordan knew he could beat (Sizer) again," Fortmann said. In perhaps the understatement of the season, Muskego High School Wrestling Coach Sean Fortmann added, "Both boys wrestled well in the finals."

As for how the team faired overall in the state wrestling tournament, Fortmann said with four out of five wrestlers placing, it was a very good weekend for Muskego wrestling. Junior Justin Scherkenbach finished 4th in the 125-pound weight class, and Senior Tyler Quartullo placed 5th in the 135-pound weight class. Freshman Austin Quartullo, Tyler's brother, was eliminated in a consolation round after losing his quarterfinal round.
Next year looks promising, too.Â
"Both of our state champs are returning, and so are Justin and Austin," Fortmann stated. "Next year could be fun, but let us savor this weekend before we start planning next season."
