Willow Tree Bends, but Won't Break

Owners remain steadfast and committed to bringing customers a great meal in an atmosphere that's "just like home."

Mary Belmore, who owns Willow Tree Cafe with husband Ken, says overall she is happy as she looks ahead to the restaurant's second month in business.

“I’m really happy with how the staff has grown as a team, helping us to continuously make improvements to better our customers’ experiences” Belmore said.

After some mixed reviews during the opening month, Belmore is committed to making the necessary changes to smooth things out and become a staple in the community.

Through trial and error along with carefully listening to customer requests and suggestions, changes have already been made in the kitchen process as well as with a few menu items.

“Ken and I try to be very hands on with every aspect of the restaurant, including communicating with our customers. We appreciate their honest feedback and, because we want to be successful here, we strive to please every customer who visits,” Belmore said.

Because of all of the recent improvements, Belmore encourages anyone who has had a less than positive experience to stop in again so they can taste and see the difference.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and features a bakery case with homemade pies and cakes. Customers can also enjoy homemade soups and daily dinner specials including pasties which is a homemade crust with potatoes, carrots, and ground beef inside.

The Belmore’s have been longtime and active Muskego residents who enjoy serving their community and Mary hopes that people feel that sense of community when they come in to dine.

"We recently had a group of women here to eat, and afterward they asked if they could stay and play cards, and that's how I want people to feel here. We want people to stay awhile and hang out, and a place where people can feel at home."
