• Vern Bentley remembered for keeping eye on New Berlin (gmtoday.com) — Longtime New Berlin resident Vern Bentley, 92, is being remembered for decades of quietly but persistently monitoring City Hall from the back row and challenging projects he felt threatened the community's rural character. Friends and former mayors say his respectful, persistent questions shaped debates over roads, development, and infrastructure, and they're urging today's residents to stay just as engaged. Services will be held Sept. 11 on National Avenue in New Berlin.
