City IT Manager Receives Award For Municipal Excellence

This City of New Berlin employee received the 24th Annual John Bauer award for service as IT manager.

NEW BERLIN, WI β€” The City's IT Manager, Alan Skornia, was recognized last week by the City of New Berlin with an annual award that marks municipal excellence.

Skornia was presented with the 24th Annual John Bauer Award. The award was created and named after John Bauer, who was a New Berlin city employee for 30 years, according to a news release from the city.

Skornia has worked for New Berlin for eight years now, most recently as an IT manager.

"Alan is always happy to assist staff with a smile, even when he is being pulled in many different directions. His diligent oversight and swift action has kept New Berlin’s infrastructure safe and secure" New Berlin Mayor Dave Ament said in the news release. "He is an exemplary employee and is most deserving of this coveted award."

Throughout that time, he has consistently shown dedication to New Berlin and has helped the city move with confidence as others fall victim to security breaches, according to the news release.

The annual award for city employees is based on nominations from other employees and New Berlin citizens, the news release said.
