Golfer From New Berlin Wins College Conference Award
An Eisenhower High School Alum who now plays golf in North Dakota won a college conference "Golfer of the Week" award.
BISMARK, ND β A recent alum of New Berlin's Eisenhower High School took home college honors last week after her college's golf conference awarded her "Women's Golfer of the Week."
Amanda Karvala, a freshman at Waldorf University in North Dakota, lifted her team to victory at an invitational conference in Decorah, Iowa. She shot eight-over par in the first round and one-over-par in the second round for a total of 153 strokes, according to a news release from Waldorf University.
"My last hole, I made a shot from 85 yards," Karvala said. "It was a blind shot, so I wasn't able to see my shot. All my teammates were up at the green, and my mom and my brother were there, my coach, and everyone got to see my shot. I did not know if it went in, but I saw everyone jumping up and down. It made my heart so full! It was the best feeling ever."

Karvala's performance led her university to a narrow team win in the conference. The hosting school, Luther, lost by only two strokes.
"Shoutout to my family for motivating me every day to try my hardest and not led the bad shots get to me when every hole is a new hole and every day is a new day."
