Lions Park Playground Plans October Reopen: New Berlin Playground

The playground at Lion's park was overhauled with new surfacing and ADA-compliant pathways. It opens on October 14.

NEW BERLIN, WI β€” On Oct. 14 New Berlin's Lions Park will host a grand re-opening event in celebration of the park's newly installed playground, according to a news release from the city.

The ribbon-cutting will take place at the park at 1:30 p.m., 14800 W. Overland Trail. Mayor David Ament, the common council and city staff invite the public to attend the event.

The park's re-opening brings new playground equipment with accessible play features, rubber surfacing and ADA compliant pathways, according to the news release. The Lions Park Playground joins the likes of Malone Park with its addition of accessible play and paths. Malone Park is one of a few local accessible parks highlighted by VisitWauksha.com.

The Lions Park playground is only a part of Lions Park's expansive 40-acre presence in New Berlin. The park also features baseball diamonds, basketball courts, a fishing pond, volleyball and more, according to the news release.

Progress on the playground started with initial concepts in May 2020. Equipment and new features were eventually installed starting in June 2021, according to the city's website.
