The New Berlin Fire Department responded to a house fire on Overlook Drive Sunday evening. Two residents and a dog got out safely.
NEW BERLIN, WI β The New Berlin Fire Department responded to a house fire on Overlook Drive around 8 p.m. on Sunday. Two residents and a dog safely got out of the house before the fire department arrived and no injuries were reported, the agency said in a news release.
The first firefighters on the scene found that the fire began in the kitchen. More firefighters arrived and a crew began to fight the interior fire as other firefighters quickly set up a portable water tank, according to the news release. All 12 New Berlin Fire Fighters who were on duty at the city's four staffed stations then worked to extinguish the fire.
Seven other fire departments from surrounding municipalities helped to search the scene, overhaul the structure and to supply water as there are no fire hydrants in the area, according to the news release.
