OAK CREEK -- Just in time for Summer 2016, Niche.com took a look at the best places to raise a family in states across the country.

According to its rankings, Wisconsin offers more than a few possibilities.

In the national rankings, Devon, Pennsylvania earned top honors. In Wisconsin, it's all about Cedarburg. The Metro Milwaukee area took five of the top 10 spots with Elm Grove (2), Whitefish Bay (3), Brookfield (4), Mequon (9) and Fox Point (10) placing high in the rankings. Oak Creek placed 81st.

The lists were created using information about public schools, crime rates, cost of living and family-friendly amenities. Data was pulled from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC and other sources, according to Niche.

Crime & Safety at Oak Creek:

In 2012 there was a shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek and lives were lost. However, the police responded quickly and caught the perpetrator within a few hours. Police are visible daily throughout neighborhoods and on the main roads of the city. Vandalism and robbery are very low.

Overall Experience at Oak Creek:

The area is developing into a new/updated suburb of Milwaukee. New living spaces and stores are being built in this up and coming city.
