$5,000 In Cell Phones Stolen; Suspects At Large: Police

By the time they left the store police say they stole more than $5,000 in cell phones by distracting the clerk and using a wire cutter.

OAK CREEK, WI — Two men in their 20s are being implicated in a cell phone-stealing incident at the Howell Ave. U.S. Cellular store on Jan. 2.

According to police reports, two men in their 20s walked into the U.S. Cellular store at just before 5 p.m. and began to ask questions about the various iPhones available in the store.

Reports indicated that as one of the men distracted the sales clerk with questions, the other pulled out pliers and snipped the security cords off of several iPhones. By the time they left the store through the door that connects to the Pick 'n Save, they stole more than $5,000 in cell phones, police say.

According to police, a Pick 'n Save employee who was outside changing a trash can saw two men run out of the store and into a waiting black sedan with tinted windows at the time of the incident.

Police are describing the two suspects as two black men in their 20s. Police say the first suspect was between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, with a thin build and has a mustache. The second suspect was said to be between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-11 with a hooded sweatshirt, black athletic pants, black gloves and the hood pulled tight.
