📰 News we're reading

• Oak Creek Developers Close $8.3M Land Deal (hoodline.com) — A massive 120-acre land sale just west of Oak Creek’s IKEA has cleared a key hurdle for The Prairie, a proposed mixed-use neighborhood with more than 500 homes plus commercial space. Developers Wangard and Siepmann now need Plan Commission, rezoning and Common Council approvals, where traffic, wetlands, Falk Park buffers and infrastructure costs will be closely scrutinized by city staff and nearby residents.

• Waukesha West's Zielinski adds new wrinkle to his repertoire (gmtoday.com) — Oak Creek High School’s track squad made a strong Classic 8 debut, with junior Kenneth Mueller winning the 300 hurdles and the Knights dominating several sprint relays against top programs like Waukesha West and Arrowhead. The meet in Muskego also featured standout field performances, including Waukesha West’s Cole Zielinski edging Oak Creek’s Gabriel Redmond in the long jump.

• Powerball drawing makes six people in Wisconsin millionaires (wbay.com) — A Powerball ticket sold at the Pick ’n Save on South 27th Street in Oak Creek is worth $1 million after matching all five regular numbers in Wednesday’s drawing. The Wisconsin Lottery says six tickets statewide became million- or multi-million-dollar winners, with thousands of smaller prizes also awarded. Oak Creek shoppers who played this drawing may want to double-check their tickets and review prize-claim steps online.
