Apartment Fire Caused By Misplaced Plastic Bowl: Report

Police said the damage was contained to the stove and kitchen cabinet area and was estimated to be between $800 to $1,000.

OAK CREEK, WI — A fire scare at the Oak Shores Apartments was quickly handled once authorities found the cause was a misplaced bowl on a stove top.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, authorities responded to the apartment complex at just after noon on Aug. 15 on a report of a fire that had been producing a large volume of smoke.

Police said they investigated the case, and learned that the apartment resident put a pot of water on the stove for tea, but had a plastic bowl too close to the burner. The bowl melted, and caught fire, causing the smoke, police said.
