AWESOME! Milwaukee Woman Makes History, First in State to Enlist In Airborne Army Infantry

An 18-year-old Ronald Reagan High School graduate enlisted in the Army and landed a job previously not open to female soldiers.

MILWAUKEE - 18-year-old Deja Evans has done something that no other female from Wisconsin has accomplished.

According to a FOX 6 report on Saturday evening, the recent graduate of Ronald Reagan High School has enlisted in the Army and landed a job previously unavailable to female soldiers.

Late last year, the U.S. Military declared all combat positions were opening to women. In fact, Evans is the second woman from Wisconsin to be in the infantry, but the first woman from the state to go airborne.

According to FOX 6, Airborne Infantry wasn't Evans' first choice. Though it's not surprising it's where she landed as her father, Rufus Evans, served in the 82nd Airborne division from 1995-1998.

She has the rest of the year to enjoy civilian life. She starts boot camp in January.
