Baseball On Deck As Part Of Independence Day Holiday Celebration
With many traditional holiday events canceled, the return of baseball, music, and entertainment will be part of Franklin's weekend plans.
FRANKLIN, WI β Although the upcoming July 4 holiday weekend may take on a different look this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, baseball β both on the field and on the big screen β will play a part in local celebrations.
The Milwaukee Milkmen, an American Association of Independent Professional franchise, will open their 60-game series with a three-game series against the Chicago Dogs on Friday at Franklin Field. Three cities will play host to the season and Milkmen owner Mike Zimmerman said in a news release that the seating at the ballpark will be limited to ensure for proper social distancing. Because Zimmerman expects tickets to quickly sell out, he is encouraging fans to purchase tickets online.
Two of the three weekend games will begin at 1 p.m. with the season-opener set to start at 6:30 p.m. and Umbrella Bar at The Rock Sports Complex will also include entertainment and live music Thursday and Saturday. The Umbrella Bar will operate from 5-9 p.m. Thursday with food trucks and live music by Liam Nugent, from 6:30-10:30 p.m. and Saturday will feature live music by 76 Juliet and views of the Village of Greendaleβs fireworks display.

The Milky Way Drive-In will also take on a baseball theme over the holiday weekend with a double feature scheduled for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The schedule is as follows:
Thursday: Field Of Dreams, 6:30 p.m.; For The Love Of The Game, 9:15 p.m.
