Body Of Missing Franklin Man Found 120 Miles Away In Door County

Authorities are reporting that the body of Ahmad Adl, of Franklin was found after he went missing on Aug. 20 in a swimming incident.

FRANKLIN, WI -- Authorities in Ozaukee County are reporting that the body a man who went missing in an Aug. 20 Lake Michigan swimming has been located.

According to authorities, Ahmad Z. Adl, who went missing in Lake Michigan at Harrington Beach, was located more than 120 miles away at Whitefish Dunes State Park in Door County just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sep. 2. Authorities reported that the cause of death was accidental drowning.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, on Aug. 20, just after 1 p.m., officials received a 911 call from a citizen at Harrington Beach State Park located in the Town of Belgium. Authorities were told that five people entered Lake Michigan to swim. Four of the people reportedly exited the lake: three with no injuries and one with life-threatening injuries. The woman who was seriously injured was identified as 32-year-old Paige C. Berndt of Milwaukee. Authorities say Berndt died late Monday evening as a result of her injuries sustained from the incident.

Officials said that on Monday, Sep. 3, an autopsy was conducted by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office in Madison. The Medical Examiner reported that the remains were positively identified as Adl, and that identification was made through dental records and by the description of clothing and jewelry worn.
