OAK CREEK, WI — After six years of operation, Bootz Saloon and Grill has closed its doors for good — except for a one-day farewell party.

A post on the popular country music venue's Facebook page stated, "It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye. Unfortunately, our lease here is ending and we have been unable to negotiate an extension that is satisfactory to both parties involved."

Bootz' last day in operation was Monday, Oct. 23. A farewell party is scheduled on Friday, Oct. 27 for people to say goodbye.

A call to Bootz' on Monday afternoon confirmed the venue is now closed, and that lease issues were at the heart of the decision close their doors.

Bootz, 8950 S. 27th St., opened in 2011 as Oak Creek's lone country music bar. Country music stars Chris Janson, Chase Rice, Drew Baldridge were just a few to take the stage at Bootz during their operation in Oak Creek.

At the time, Bootz was said to be well on its way to establishing itself as a destination for people looking to have a fun night out, Patch originally reported in 2011.

The popular country music venue hosted a disc jockey on Thursday and Friday nights, as well as a live country band on Saturday nights. Live entertainment each day, including Packer parties and tavern trivia rounded out a week's worth of festivities.

The bar featured food cooked on a wood-burning smoker and a wide array of southern barbecue options.

Bootz also featured a mechanical bull - it had to be driven up from South Carolina and the owners had to get insurance on it. "A lot of places," co-owner Ryan Sell said in 2011, "don’t want to insure a mechanical bull."
