Bukiewicz Announces Oak Creek Mayoral Election Campaign

The person appointed to succeed Steve Scaffidi as Oak Creek's mayor is making plans to keep the job come election 2018.

OAK CREEK, WI — The person appointed to succeed Steve Scaffidi as Oak Creek's mayor is making plans to keep the job come election 2018.

Dan Bukiewicz, long time Oak Creek resident, homeowner and current Oak Creek Mayor has announced his candidacy for reelection.

Bukiewicz was appointed as mayor in March following the departure of former Mayor Steve Scaffidi to host a talk show on WTMJ radio.

"I first ran for alderperson in Oak Creek because I wanted to serve my community and bring new leadership to the Oak Creek Common Council. I've had the opportunity to work with neighbors and fellow council members to tackle some of Oak Creek's most pressing issues. I had the honor to be appointed to the position of Mayor this past spring and have loved every minute of it. I am running for reelection because I want to continue to move Oak Creek forward as Mayor" Bukiewicz announced Monday.

He was elected as President of the Milwaukee Building and Construction Trades Council in January of 2014. Before being elected to serve as Building Council President, he spent over 31 years in the building industry.

He began his career in the trades as an apprentice with IBEW Local 494 in 1986. He spent 19 years as an at- large electrical contractor where he worked his way from a field electrician to a Service Department Manager.

In 2012 he became a Business Representative for IBEW Local 494 where he provided representation for all contracts, apprenticeships, pensions, grievances, and communications with various industry and businesses affiliated with Local 494.

Dan is married to Carolyn and they have lived in Oak Creek for 28 years. Carolyn is the Chairwomen of the Oak Creek Celebrations Commission and a Past President for the Oak Creek Foundation for Education Committee. His daughter Mariah is a 2010 graduate of Oak Creek High School. The primary election is February 20 , 2018 and the general election is April 3 rd , 2018.
